Abstract:
This article presents a portrait of the L.A. Jewish community: its development since earliest days, its demographic characteristics, and the patterns of participation by Jews in community activities and institutions. Data for the study comes from a 1979 survey, three earliest surveys (1951, 1959, 1967) and the 1980 U.S. population census.
