Abstract:
This article examines the claim that many American Jewish community centers' Shabbat programs are in fact no different than their other daily programs. The author argues that it is necessary for Jewish community centers to uphold the traditions of the Sabbath by creating programs that actually work to edify the principles of Shabbat. The author also states that it is more important for the program to have relevant enriching content than it is for the program to actually be held on the Sabbath day.
