Abstract:
The author explores the nature and formation processes of Jewish identity, and discusses the ways in which both Jewish communal professionals and the clients they served are affected by dynamics involving Jewish identity. Among the thorny questions related to Jewish identity, the author explains, are whether or not Jews should support affirmative action, and to what degree (if any) Jews ought to remain separate from wider society.
