Abstract:
As synagogues face turf challenges from Jewish Community Centers, Boards of Jewish Educations, and federations, it is essential that they take stock of what they can do that no other organization can and that they improve their effectiveness in those areas, which include tying the individual to communal history and creating a unique style of Jewish leaming. Doing so is the only way that synagogues can make a real contribution to Jewish life in the coming century.
