Abstract:
This report provides an examination of the positive youth development (PYD) field: the work that has been done, the role of philanthropy in this field, and potential areas for future investment based on the most recent research into PYD programs and their results.
Promising evidence abounds concerning the effectiveness of PYD programs in promoting the healthy development of young people. If implemented correctly, PYD is an approach to structuring services, systems and supports for young people that will enable them to develop the skills and competencies they need to thrive as they encounter the myriad challenges of adult life.
