Abstract:
The dramatic rise in women's employment over the last few decades has generated substantial discussion of the imbalance between parenthood, especially motherhood, and career growth and development. Some businesses have taken the initiative to develop "family-friendly policies" aimed at attracting and retaining female workers. Many other organizations, including those in the Jewish community, do not have formal policies in place. Yet, recognizing that women do bear greater responsibility for family matters, "organizations will face increasing pressure to do something to support, rather than undermine family life."
